Take the Lead sponsored dog walks 2010
Our annual sponsored dog walks that raise much needed funds for the Animal Cancer Trust are planned to take place on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd October. The locations for the walks are:
Brighton, East Sussex: Sunday 3rd October held at Stanmer Country Park
Organiser - Cathy Sutherland
The Brighton walk was held in very windy and damp conditions! All participating had a good walk and helped raise valuable funds for the Trust. The person raising the most money on the day was Valerie Somerford from Brighton. Click here to see photos from the walk
New Forest, Hampshire: Sunday 3rd October held at Boldrewood Arboretum Drive, Emery Down Organiser - Naomi Baggaley
Naomi's report: "The walk went well. Unfortunately, due to the weather, the number of walkers was only about 20 in the end. On the day £1103 was raised but half of the people have yet to pay up. The whole display team (K9 K-OS) are incredibly helpful - especially Sarah who has been nagging and nagging at people and Ann who has been brilliant in working out routes with me, walking and re-walking them...(although that's no big hardship with the scenery) and ensuring the terrain was going to be fine for everyone no matter the weather. Also, Loraine has been so kind in leading the short walk for us - ensuring everyone who wanted to be involved could be."
Thank you to Naomi and her team who always manage to raise a lot of money for the Animal Cancer Trust throughout the year.
Castleford, Yorkshire: Saturday 2nd October held at RSPB Fairburn Ings Nature Reserve, Ledston Organisers - Emma Huffiney/Maria Graham from Abbey House Veterinary Hospital
The walk was well supported and held in glorious sunshine! Full report to follow.
Northwich, Cheshire: Saturday 2nd October held at Delamere Forest Park
Organiser: Billy Bradley with help from Brenda Baskerville
Yet again the weather was lovely and all the walkers enjoyed their walk around lovely Delamere Forest. A big thank you to Billy for taking over the organisation at short notice and running the walk so efficiently. The walker raising the largest amount was Stephen Piper from Ellesmere Port - congratulations!
Two new leaflets!!
We have produced two new leaflets in 2010 which are now available from our office. We plan to do a mailing at the end of September updating our supporters with progress and will enclose copies of these leaflets. If anyone wishes to receive leaflets before this contact our office.
Our Website is expanding!
We are currently putting more information onto our website that will be helpful for pet owners. There is a new section under 'About Cancer' that provides answers to Frequently Asked Questions. There is also a list of questions to ask your veterinary surgeon if you have received a diagnosis of cancer in your pet. Click here to go straight to the list of questions for your veterinary surgeon. March 2010
PENNINE BERNESE CARTERS AT CRUFTS!!
The Pennine Bernese Carters presented a cheque to the Animal Cancer Trust for the magnificent sum of £4,000 at Crufts on Friday 12 March 2010. Our Trustee, Jeff Sampson, received the cheque from Barbara Baldock (on left) and Liz Marshall who represented the Pennine Carters. The money was raised throughout 2009 at various shows and events. Well done to everyone involved. It is great news for the Animal Cancer Trust and will help immensely.
Major sponsor & supporter of the Animal Cancer Trust!
Royal Canin continue to provide great support for the Animal Cancer Trust to help us reach our goal of fighting cancer in our pets. In 2007 and 2008 they helped us produce our new leaflet and poster amongst other things. In 2010 we produced two new information leaflets which were designed and printed by Royal Canin. They have helped in so many other areas and are a delight to work with.
Royal Canin are the headline sponsors and closely involved with the nationwide dog walk, 'Take the Lead'.
Notelet cards available!
Two notelet/greetings card (picture on left) are available. The price for 10 cards is £5 plus postage and packing. The size of the card is 6" x 4 1/4". Orders should be sent to our office together with a cheque made payable to the Animal Cancer Trust. Please add £3.50 for postage.
