Vet Nurses at Harper Adams raise valuable funds
£550 was raised by the vet nurse students training at Harper Adams to help swell the coffers of the Animal Cancer Trust. What a great effort and a big thank you to everyone who helped raise the funds.
Cheque received from British Veterinary Nursing Association!
The Animal Cancer Trust recently accepted a cheque for monies raised during 2008 by the BVNA. Malcolm Brearley, our Chairman, was presented with a cheque for £1458.29 by Angela Mariconda on behalf of the BVNA (see picture on left) as the culmination of the Trust being the BVNA's charity of the year in 2008. A huge thank you to everyone involved!
Dates for sponsored dog walks 2009
The dates for the Take the Lead sponsored dog walks are Saturday 3rd October and Sunday 4th October 2009. Three Peaks Walk
Gill Gray and her colleagues from Rowde Primary School successfully walked the Three Peaks in three days to raise money in memory of a dear friend. The money was shared between the Animal Cancer Trust and a human cancer charity. I am delighted to say that we have been the recipient of a cheque for £1,000. A huge thank you to Gill and everyone involved. Her dog, Travis, accompanied the walkers - I believe he slept a lot after the walk!

Pennine Carters
Our loyal friends from the Pennine Carters have recently donated £3,000 which is fantastic! The money will be used to support the grants that we are giving to the Universities with resident oncologists to enable them to travel to international oncology meetings and keep up-to-date with all the latest advances in research and treatments for our pets. This will benefit all pet owners in the future. Thank you very much to everyone connected to the group.

TAKE THE LEAD sponsored dog walks
Saturday/Sunday, 4th/5th October 2008
What a contrast the weather was this year compared to 2007! We experienced some truly awful weather over the weekend of 4th and 5th October so heartfelt thanks to all those hardy souls that turned out for the walks. We are still in the process of gathering in the sponsorship monies but we have raised £6,058 to date which all helps boost our coffers.
Chris & Anglea Reardon walked with friends in South Wales and between them raised just under £400 - well done! Picture of the group is shown on the left.
Photographs and individual reports from the organised walks can be viewed, click here.

Canine Supporters Charity donation
The Animal Cancer Trust was presented with a cheque for £6,000 from the Canine Supporters Charity on 6th September at the Richmond Championship Dog Show. What a marvellous boost to our funds - thank you to the Board of the Canine Supporters Charity for recognising the Trust. This is the third year that the Animal Cancer Trust has been a beneficiary and we are truly delighted!
Thank you to our team in the office!
A big thank you to the workers in the office who keep everything ticking over from day to day. Without their work the Trust would not be operating. Here is a picture of Rhian who looks after the work of the Animal Cancer Trust answering telephone enquiries and emails as well as dealing with the correspondence. Thank you Rhian!
Animal Cancer Trust Chairman elected President!
Malcolm Brearley, our Chairman, has just been elected President of the European Society of Veterinary Onocology at the recent meeting held in Copenhagen at the end of February. There are over 200 members in the Society from all over Europe and a few from the USA, Australia and South Africa who are all involved in veterinary oncology. Congratulations!
